Wii, hacks bannerbomb, hacking, ios, Wii 3 Comments
Ok, Just thought I would throw together a quick guide on how to hack the wii.
DO NOT SKIP ANY OF THESE STEPS UNLESS I TELL YOU TO!!!!
Supply List:
SD Card (2-8 gigs will work)
A Portable Hard Drive (160 gigs+, depending on the number of games you want to backup)
A Wii on system 4.2 or less. (Haven’t tried past 4.2 yet.)
Small amount of technical knowledge to get you through this.
If your Wii is already hacked and are looking to find out more about homebrew click here to go to the second part of my Wii Tutorial
PART 1: Installing the Homebrew Channel
Step 1: Downloading files & Preparing the SD card
BANNERBOMB
Click on the correct version to download the BannerBomb files you need to hack your Wii.
Check which version of the Wii your using before downloading and using the wrong version.
(Add info on how to find out which version wii you have.)
Version 1 – Wii Menu 3.0 – 4.1
Version 2 – Wii Menu 4.2 (Only)
HackMii
Download the following file and extract the boot.elf file and place it in the root of the SD card.
After putting the files on the SD card its now time to run an exploit in System 4.0
This is what it should look like on the SD card:

Step 2: Hacking
DO NOT PUT THE SD CARD IN THE SYSTEM YET.
First you need to start the Wii and head to the SD CARD MENU.
Now put in the SD card. It will freeze or ask you to install boot.elf. Say yes to the install.
If done correctly, you will be brought to the Hack Mii menu which asks to install three different components. Start with the Homebrew Channel and then the DVDX and lastly bootmii
Bootmii
Install both the IOS and boot2.
Quick info:
Homebrew Channel is where homebrew runs on the Wii, through the SD Card.
DVDX is what makes it so the wii can read regular dvd discs, such as burned ones.
bootmii is for protecting the wii from bricking. (haven’t had a wii brick yet)
If all this is done correctly, and I explained it right, then the system should restart and the Wii will now have a new channel.

Open the Homebrew channel and in there should be the Wad manager, we need to use it to update the wii.
WAD MANAGER

Select Load after clicking on Wad Manager 1.5.
After its finished opening and loading select IOS36
Press A for loading from SD Slot
When you get to the list of wads scroll down till you get to IOS70-64-v6687.wad
Install it by pressing A and waiting for it to say its installed and to press A again to go back to the list.
Now you want to install System Menu-NUS-v481.wad
Once that’s done there are the rest of the IOS’s to install. There’s about 25 of them.
Start with IOS9 then finish with IOS61
Now install Shopping Channel-NUS-v18.wad
PART 3: Modifying 4.2 Menu
We’ll start by Erasing everything on the SD Card and adding everything in the 4.2 Mod zip
It will look like this:

After the Install of all the wads from part 1 the Homebrew channel may be gone. Just run the Bannerbomb from part 1.
One you have the Homebrew Channel again, we need to back up the NAND.
BootMii
If you were able to install Bootmii as Boot2 then when you restart the Wii the Menu will pop up. If you installed it only as an IOS then go to the HBC and press Home then BootMii.
Press the power button on the wii 3 times to get to the last option, then press the reset button.
[You can also navigate with a gc controller.]
Press reset to choose the first option, & then follow the directions on the screen to make your NAND backup.
[Bad blocks are no problem.]
Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, & keys.bin elsewhere & erase from the sd card. [or rename it.]
